iPad Stand Admired by MacWorld UK

January 11, 2012

MacWorld UK’s David Price stopped by Octa’s booth 6221 at International CES to review their new tablet, e-reader and iPad stand, the Vacuum Dock + WhaleTail.

Photograph of the Whale Kit iPad holder attached to the back of an iPad.Octa’s TabletTail system comes in a three-piece set that can be used as an iPad stand, handle or grip. The most vital component to the system is the Vacuum Dock. When pressed against any non-porous surface, like that of a tablet or tablet case, a three-finger button on top of the Vacuum Dock can be pressed five or six times to release all of the air from between the surface and the suction cup. When properly suctioned, the Vacuum Dock will stay attached to the back of your devices for a minimum of six hours without any additional pumps.

The Vacuum Dock can be used with either of two components for increased functionality. The Dome Cap is a rubber cover for the gear system that’s held within the Vacuum Dock to lock on other tails and attachements. The Vacuum Dock can be used with the Dome Cap as the perfect iPad grip. The rounded shape is made to fit perfectly in the human hand at rest.

Take off the Dome Cap and lock the WhaleTail into the Vacuum Dock, using the gear system, and you’ve got the perfect iPad stand or handle. To use the system as an iPad stand, adjust the WhaleTail to prop up the iPad at any range of angles, horizontal or vertically. The twin flukes even bend for added support! If you want to use the WhaleTail as an iPad handle, simply slide the tail in between your fingers and bend it tightly over your hand. For added support, press the twin flukes in around your wrist.
