Pinterest: Put a Pin in This
April 12, 2012You’ve already Flickr’ed, Tumblr’ed, and (most surely) Facebook’ed your way to social media stardom, but the internet isn’t about to let you rest just yet. Pinterest, a new social media platform that resembles a virtual pin-board for all your online interests, has broken into the mainstream. It’s a simple enough concept: if you see something you like on the web, pin it to your profile. Then split your board into themes and show off what is inspiring you. Because discovery is the point (and the fun) of Pinterest, user profiles become stunning image galleries of all the things they’re into, and you’re welcome to track your favorite taste-maker’s portfolio to keep on the cutting edge of what’s sure to be the next big thing.
Perfectly timed to take advantage of the iPad’s Retina Display, a Pinterest iPad app was announced recently (and is coming soon!) at the SXSW Interactive Conference in Austin, TX, and has virtual curators champing at the bits (and bytes) to start pinning on their brand new HD tablet. You can grab the Pinterest iPhone app right now, but because of the photo-heavy nature of the Pinterest way, it’s the iPad where this service is sure to really shine.
